U.S. Junior Women's National Team High Performance Sculling Camp
January 8-11, 2009
Tempe, Arizona
The purpose of this camp is to identify top scullers from around the country as possible candidates for the 2009 Junior Women’s National Team Selection Camp. Rowers will row twice daily in singles, doubles and quads, as well as have daily seminars and group discussions covering a wide array of topics including:
- The Junior Women’s National Team: Presented by Bill Zack, 2008 Junior National Team assistant coach, and Daniel Duxbury, 2008 Development Camp coach.
- The learning experience of the 2008 Senior and Junior World Rowing Championships, including a question and answer session with Bill Zack, coach of the U.S. junior quad in Austria.
- Expectations and things you can do to become a more effective sculler, including specialized drills, how to use tapes (both audio and video) for feedback, technique issues and training tips.
Who is eligible?
This camp is open to any female rower born in the year 1991 or later that has placed in the top 12 in a junior sculling event (4x, 2x, 1x/Open and Lightweight) at the USRowing Youth National Championships or top six at any one of the regional qualifying regattas for the USRowing Youth National Championships. Scullers placing in the top six of a sculling event at the SRAA National Regatta or the Stotesbury Cup Regatta are also eligible. Additionally, any rower with proven sculling ability that may not have competed at one of the above mentioned regattas is invited to apply. A video demonstrating sculling ability is required for those applicants.

Alternate Accommodations
Several local rowers’ families have once again offered to assist those athletes in need of alternate accommodations by hosting camp attendees in their homes. Please contact Coach Duxbury for more information.
Camp Fee
The camp itself is free. However, participants are responsible for all costs associated with transportation, accommodations and food.
