Personal

Grace lists her personal heroes as her parents. She is a world record holder -- one current in the women's eight set in 2013 and one former for the U23 women's pair. World Rowing has named her as one of the Top 10 Female Rowers in the World. Grace started rowing after her mom read an article titled, Do you have tall daughters? Would you like them to go to college for free? Have them try rowing. Grace and her Irish Twin sister, Claire, attended Pioneer High School rowing teams conditioning practices that spring and then signed up for summer rowing at Ann Arbor Rowing Club that summer. After the first two weeks of conditioning running in the snow and ice, she decided to play club volleyball instead. The following fall she joined the team again and went on to co-captain and come in third at the USRowing Youth National Championships in the four. While in middle school, she took the nerd bus to high school to take AP Math. Grace was invited to play on the USA Volleyball development team. She was a Junior Master Gardener. After graduating early from high school, she joined Maritime Rowing Club in Connecticut, where her first job was boathouse janitor. Grace was named the Freshman of the Year at the University of Michigan. She graduated from Stanford University where she received the Stanford Award for Excellence and won a NCAA Championship. She lists rowing with her sister in high school as her most memorable sporting achievement. Grace worked at Ernst & Young (EY) in internal mergers & acquisitions after the 2016 Olympics. She has two siblings, Claire and Connor. Her parents are Tom Luczak and Martha Portz Luczak. Her fiancis Dr. Michael Fattal, the unofficial team ENT consultant. Her hobbies include road trips in her lime-green Ford Fiesta named Kermit, dancing, cooking, gardening and visiting the National Parks. Her earliest competition was winning a diaper crawling race. The near-death experiences of both of her siblings gave her the perspective to appreciate life, bring the most to everyday and smile and laugh as much as possible.
