PR3 Mixed Double Sweeps Races on Day Two at Gavirate International Para Rowing Regatta

The U.S. PR3 mixed double sculls crew of Pearl Outlaw (Charlottesville, Va./Ithaca College) and Todd Vogt (Rochester, N.Y./University of Buffalo) swept its races on Saturday at the 16th Gavirate International Para Rowing Regatta in Gavirate, Italy, winning the final in the first round of races on Saturday morning and their heat of the second round of races on Saturday afternoon.

After winning their opening heat on Friday, Outlaw and Vogt won Saturday morning's final of the first round of racing by nearly nine seconds over Great Britain's Daniel Powell and Annie Caddick. The U.S. boat clocked a 7:46.54, with the British boat finishing in a 7:55.31. Austria's David Erkinger and Johanna Beyer finished third.

In Saturday afternoon's second round of racing, the U.S. duo clocked a 7:35.70 to finish nearly six seconds ahead of Powell and Caddick. Erkinger and Beyer again finished third.

Outlaw and Vogt will get their final trip down the course tomorrow at 11 a.m. local time in the second final. Click here for today's complete results and tomorrow's heat sheet.

Outlaw, a two-time national team member and 2019 bronze medalist in the PR3 mixed double, and Vogt, a 2019 National Team member, won the event at the 2022 USRowing National Selection Regatta/Speed Order 1 in Sarasota in March.

With the event recently being elevated to the Paralympic program for 2024, this weekend is a chance for the duo to get four races down the course and test their speed ahead of this summer's national team trials and ultimately the 2022 World Rowing Championships in September.

National team trials in the event will be held as part of the USRowing Summer National Championships July 6-9 on Lake Mercer in West Windsor, N.J. The 2022 World Rowing Championships are scheduled for September 18-25 in Racice, Czech Republic.
