USRowing Honor Roll

Application Process

Applications are now open for the class of 2027 USRowing Honor Roll! This program is in its 34th year and celebrates student-athletes who dedicate their time and effort in the classroom and in the boathouse. Applications will close on August 16, 2026. A public announcement will be made on August 31, 2026.  

New for this year

Honor roll will include two award categories: First Team and Second Team--pairing the academic excellence and athletic commitment to the sport.

  • The First Team Award recognizes student-athletes with a 4.0 GPA or higher.
  • The Second Team Award recognizes student-athletes with a GPA between 3.5 and 3.99.

To recognize pursuits outside rowing, USRowing is debuting the Beyond the Boathouse Award. The Beyond the Boathouse Award recognizes excellence in community service, leadership, professional development, or other creative and intellectual passions. Student-athletes must nominate themselves within the application to be considered for this award. 

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be an active and compliant USRowing member on the date applied, with a Basic membership at minimum and signed membership agreement on file.
  • Minimum average GPA of 3.5 in their academic junior year.
  • Must have raced at least once between September 2025 through September 2026.

When do applications open and end?

The class of 2027 application period will run from June 22nd to August 16th. 

How are GPAs evaluated?

We accept both unweighted and weighted GPAs, and we apply the same standard to every applicant. The transcript submitted is the GPA we work from.

What do recipients receive? 

Honorees are included in the official USRowing Honor Roll roster online, receive a personalized award letter, and are eligible for select awardee benefits if they receive the Beyond the Boathouse award.

There's no cap on First or Second Team. Every student-athlete who meets the criteria earns the recognition. With Beyond the Boathouse being in its first year as an Honor Roll category and will award 8 student-athletes.   

When will the class of 2028 applications open?

The class of 2028 application will open in June of 2027.
