*Write the definition of a youth athlete from the rules of rowing
Â
USRowing’s goal is for all rowers to pick up an oar and keep rowing throughout their lives. Rowers range from 12 to into their 90s! We strive to create a rowing culture where athletes train in a way that prevents injury, centers the athlete’s wellbeing, and provides a supportive environment where the athlete feels safe and challenged.Â
To bring this vision to life, USRowing leverages a framework called The American Development Model (ADM). This is a joint effort between the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee and USRowing to apply the principles of long-term athlete development in a way that resonates with the culture of sports in the United States. Â
By implementing the ADM, coaches and rowing programs can maximize their athletes’ life-long potential and transform the experiences in our sport in a responsible and appropriate manner. Â
If you love rowing and want to take it to the next level, there are many opportunities to continue. Whether that means rowing in college or finding a club to continue recreationally or becoming a referee or coach, there are options.
