Personal
he enjoys powerlifting and holds an American record on the Concept2 erg for the marathon distance. She walked on to the womens club rowing team her freshman year of college and stroked the second novice eight before moving to the mens team to start coxing. Her men's coach had the coxswains do all the ergs, training for 2ks, 6ks, 10ks, with goal splits, could pass/fail workouts, and wouldn't get boated if they did not start or did not finish. The first time she realized coxswains didnt train was when she had just graduated college and went to New York Athletic Club. It was 2k evaluation day, and she was handed a clipboard. She immediately handed it off to another coxswain and jumped on an empty erg in the last wave of tests and ripped a 2k. She lists Seth Weil, 2016 Rio Olympian in the mens four, as one of her personal heroes. He started as a club guy at the University of California, Davis (and was coached by Corals college coach, Desmond Stahl). He's a club guy that made it, along with Matt Miller from the University of Virginia, also in the 2016 men's four. It's hard to make it as a club athlete and especially hard to make it as a club coxswain, Coral says. Even though she has 10 years of training experience since shes rowed club, there is still a stigma attached to her club background. That being said, having been a club athlete and training under Desmond Stahl set the foundation for the coxswain she is today. If she wasnt rowing, she would be coaching or teaching and training for anything that pushes her body and mind to the limit like powerlifting or ultra running. Her favorite place to compete is the Head of the Charles, always and forever. Her favorite Olympic moment was hands-down the Tokyo 2020 women's lightweight double sculls final all predictions out the window and 1.0 second across the top five finishers.
