United We Row Certification
Recruiting and retaining community members, making the fastest boats possible, and building a thriving boathouse of rowers of all backgrounds require so much more than solid marketing and good coaching. The best programs in the US excel because their athletes feel safe, supported, and welcome.
The United We Row Certification program compiles the best courses for building a sense of belonging among athletes, coaching diverse athletes, and keeping athletes safe so they can focus on rowing fast boats. USRowing encourages all organizations and individuals to earn this certification and signal to your community and colleagues that you strive to build a more welcoming, inclusive, and accessible boathouse.
Benefits To You and Your Community
Organizations that complete the certification will receive a digital badge for use on their organization's website, a tag on the “Find a Club” profile, a social shoutout, and a certificate for the boathouse. Individuals will earn a badge for social media, have a tag on the “Find a Coach” profile, and receive one extra continuing education credit in addition to the credits received for all courses completed.
Certification Requirements
Individuals and Organizations may apply for their United We Row Certification via Jotform with the following requirements met.
Please note that a basic USRowing membership is required to access "The Launch" via the membership portal.
Submission of Inclusion and Accessibility Checklists [found here]
All direct-service staff completed the United We Row Pledge [found here]
Administration of one anonymous experience survey per year
Annual collection of the demographics of the organization
Attendance of three representatives from their organization to United We Row Summit
Submission of completion certificates for all coaches + staff for 4 inclusion-related courses on The Launch
Attend a live virtual or in-person training that is inclusion-related
Sign the United We Row Pledge
Submit a short statement
Submission of completion certificates for 6 inclusion-related courses on The Launch
