What should we prepare in advance?
  • Schedule of the Day: Plan an hour-by-hour schedule to follow. You can share this with participants ahead of time to know what to expect.

  • Equipment Check: Test all ergs and boats beforehand.
  • Volunteers: Recruit volunteers to help with registration, safety, and guiding participants. Having experienced rowers and coxswains in the boats is required.
    • Make sure you have a coach for each boat.

  • Social Gathering: Some clubs hold a social hour during the day, giving participants a chance to socialize, meet members of the rowing organization, connect, and refuel with food.
How do I ensure that my participants and my club are insured for this day?

Individual participants must sign a USRowing paper waiver to keep on file at your organization.

How should we promote our club to participants?

Think of Return to Rowing Day as an opportunity to meet former rowers and get them involved! Have flyers/documents ready to hand out promoting your programs, benefits, costs, etc. Encourage your experienced rowers to connect and answer questions with participants.
