USRowing U23 Development Camp Host Information

The Development Camp Host applications are closed for 2024.  This year's camps are hosted all over the country and are sanctioned by USRowing. These camps are designed to develop elite athletes into prospective High Performance candidates.

Development Camp Host Programs Requirements

For clubs to be compliant and eligible to host USRowing Development Camps, all of the following criteria must be met:

  • Host camps are required to purchase membership through USRowing for $1,500. This includes general liability insurance coverage for all active members listed on your camp's roster but does not cover equipment. Equipment insurance is the responsibility of the camp host. The camp organization must have the Safe Sport and Membership agreement signed. To purchase membership for your camp, contact members@usrowing.org.
  • 60% of all slots in the development camp must be held until May 15 for individuals unaffiliated with the educational institution that is hosting the camp.
  • All staff and coaches of each development camp must complete SafeSport training and accompanying background check, as per the USRowing Internal Policies and Participant Safety Handbook. Camp coaches will be contacted once applications has been provisionally approved to complete the background check and will be responsible for any costs associated with a background check. No camp will be approved until all listed staff and coaches have completed Safe Sport training and applied for the background check.
  • Camp head coaches are required to have completed their USRowing Level 2 Coaching certification or equivalent. Please note that if you are selected as an USRowing Development Camp host, you may be contacted by a Level 2 Coaching candidate with a request to mentor them. As a Development Camp host, we ask that you accommodate any requests that you receive to the best of your ability.
