In Memory: Conn Findlay


Four-time Olympic medalist Conn Findlay passed away on Thursday, April 8. He was 90 years old.

As a rower, Findlay brought home three Olympic medals in the pair with coxswain, winning gold medals in 1956 and 1964 and a bronze medal in 1960. Then at the 1976 Olympics in Montreal, he won a bronze medal in sailing in the Tempest two-man keelboat class with Dennis Conner. Findlay also won the America's Cup sailing race twice, in 1974 and 1977.

Born in Stockton, Calif., Findlay rowed for the University of Southern California and later led Stanford University's rowing program for many years. He is a member of both the National Rowing Hall of Fame and the National Sailing Hall of Fame. Findlay won USRowing's Man of the Year Award in 2007.
