In Memory: Jennifer Fitz-Roy

USRowing mourns the loss of national team member Jennifer Fitz-Roy, who passed away on September 3, 2023. She represented the U.S. in the PR2 women's single at the 2022 World Rowing Championships in Racice, Czech Republic, where she finished fourth.

Fitz-Roy was a member of Community Rowing, Inc., where she began rowing and worked her way into the high-performance group, and ultimately, the U.S. Para team. She was an active disability advocate and was always ready to share her personal story if it meant helping others find their own voice.

Her friends, teammates, and coaches are heartbroken by her passing. Ellen Minzner, USRowing Director of Para High Performance, recalls Jennifer from her early days at CRI: "I witnessed Jenn's tenacity as she worked her way from club level Para rower to earning a spot on the U.S. National team. A staunch advocate for others and a true friend, what I remember most is her smile. She is loved and missed by the entire Para rowing community."

Fitz-Roy's full obituary can be found here. Services will be held on Saturday, September 16 at 2 p.m. ET at Glen Ridge Congregational Church, 195 Ridgewood Avenue, Glen Ridge, NJ 07028.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Community Rowing, Inc., Spina Bifida Association of America, or Spina Bifida Association of Greater New England.
