International Olympic Committee Announces Schedule for LA 2028 Olympics
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) today unveiled the updated competition schedule for the 2028 LA Olympic Games, setting the stage for a historic celebration of sport, unity, and human potential. The revised calendar reflects a commitment to athlete well-being, global broadcast accessibility, and an enhanced fan experience across all time zones.
The 2028 Olympic Games, set to take place in Los Angeles from July 14 to July 30, will feature 40 sports and 800 events, with competitions spread across dozens of venues in and around the host city. The new schedule introduces coastal rowing as a discipline.
LA28 Paralympic Games will kick off on August 15, 2028, and close on August 27, 2028. The Paralympic schedule has not yet been announced.
Key Highlights of the Updated Schedule:
- Opening Ceremony: Scheduled for July 14 at 5 p.m. PT with a shared location of the LA Memorial Coliseum and the SoFi Stadium.
- Rowing: Heats begin on Saturday, July 15, at 12-2:15 p.m. at Marine Stadium. Gold medal finals start on Monday, July 17, and finish on Saturday, July 22.
- Coastal Rowing: Racing takes place on Monday, July 24, through Tuesday, July 25, with gold medals on the line in the afternoon sessions.
- Closing Ceremony: Culminates with marquee events on Sunday, July 30 at the LA Memorial Coliseum.
