LA2028 Beach Sprints Location Announced

LA28 announced the location for the Coastal Rowing discipline at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games. The City of Long Beach, a 2028 Venue City, will showcase Coastal Rowing, LA28’s newest discipline. Beach Sprints will make its first Olympic appearance at the Waterfront in Long Beach. The venue will also be shared by open water swimming and provide great protection from waves due to the break wall.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board officially confirmed Beach Sprints on April 9, 2025. Rowing will maintain its overall athlete quota and include Beach Sprint Rowing for the first time in the Olympic program, along with ‘Classic’ Rowing.

With the addition of Coastal Rowing, Beach Sprints to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games program, Rowing will have one additional medal event overall compared to the Olympic Games in Paris – 12 in ‘Classic’ Rowing, and three in Rowing Coastal Beach Sprints, bringing the overall number to 15 medal events.
