Letter From Our CEO - August 2025

Dear USRowing Members,

I hope everyone is enjoying these last weeks of summer before kids head back to school (already the case in some parts of the country!) and programs start regrouping for the fall. I’ve always loved this time of year—the excitement of new teammates, new goals, and the anticipation of a fun, fast season ahead. And, if speed isn’t your goal and you’re simply looking forward to being out on the water, enjoying each row—that’s wonderful too.

Huge congratulations go out to our recently named national team members, who will represent the United States at the World Championships next month in Shanghai, China. You can see the full announcement here: World Championships Roster

Speaking of national team athletes, we’re super proud of our U19 and U23 athletes, who made history and brought home five medals this summer:

  • U19 women’s four won gold—the first since 2018.
  • U19 women’s eight earned silver.
  • U23 men’s four captured their first-ever gold.
  • U23 women’s eight won their second consecutive silver medal.
  • U23 men’s lightweight single sculls earned silver.

At USRowing, we focus on many important things, but safety is always at the very top of the list. That’s why I’m proud to share our newly released Safety Video Series, created in collaboration with members of our community. As much as I loved the retro USRowing video featuring the infamous “ejector crab,” this new series is a vital resource—and I encourage you to watch and share it widely:  Safety Video Series playlist

If you’d like to take a deeper look at our organizational results from 2024—including medal counts, financials, program highlights, and a thank you to the many individuals who make our work possible—please read our Annual Report here: USRowing 2024 Annual Report.

Last but not least for this month, as we look ahead, we are proud to launch ALL IN, a bold and unifying campaign designed to put American rowers on the podium at the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles.

At the heart of ALL IN is grit, heart, and relentless commitment. From early-morning erg sessions to every stroke on the water, it represents the daily dedication required to wear USA across your chest. It’s a call to all of us—not just to cheer from the sidelines, but to fuel the journey for our team, show up for one another, and honor the legacy of those who came before.

With LA 2028 on home water, the stakes couldn’t be higher—and neither could our determination.  From youth athletes dreaming of the podium to Olympians and Paralympians chasing their next gold, we’re counting on this momentum being made together.

As we count down to the Games in LA, USRowing invites you to be ALL IN.
All in on our athletes.
All in on our mission.
All in on the dream.

Every meter, every moment, every ounce of heart—we’re pulling together for grit, glory, and gold. Join us. Because when we win, we’ll do it together. As one team. Under one flag. ALL IN.

With gratitude to all our members,

Amanda Kraus
