PR3 Crews to Race in Para Rowing Regatta to Paris This Weekend

Fresh off of being selected for the 2023 National Team squad, the U.S. PR3 mixed double sculls and PR3 four with coxswain will race this weekend at the 2023 Para Rowing Regatta to Paris. The new combinations will get to test their speed internationally for the first time on the Olympic/Paralympic course in Vaires-sur-Marne, France. In the PR3 mixed double sculls, national team rookie Gemma Wollenschlaeger (St. Augustine Beach, Fla./Temple University) will join two-time national team member Todd Vogt (Rochester, N.Y. /Portland Boat Club). Wollenschlaeger just finished her sophomore season at Temple University and is one of three U.S. rowers making their international debuts in Paris. Vogt raced the PR3 mixed double at last year's world championships, finishing fifth in Racice, Czech Republic. Wollenschlaeger and Vogt will take on boats from Great Britain, Germany, and Italy on Saturday. The PR3 mixed four with coxswain lineup includes Saige Harper (Easthampton, Mass./Sacred Heart University), Alex Flynn (Wilmington, Mass./Tufts University), and coxswain Emilie Eldracher (Andover, Mass./Massachusetts Institute of Technology), who all return from last year's boat that finished fifth at the world championships. They are joined by newcomers Ben Washburne (Madison, Conn./Williams College) and Skylar Dahl (Minneapolis, Minn./University of Virginia). Washburne just finished his senior year at Williams College, while Dahl just completed her sophomore year at Virginia. The U.S. boat will take on crews from Italy and France on Saturday. The Para Rowing Regatta to Paris gives the crews their first opportunity to race together ahead of the 2023 World Rowing Championships scheduled for September 3-10 in Belgrade, Serbia. This year's world championship is the first opportunity for countries to qualify boats for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
