Team USA Heading to the Head of the Charles


The Head of the Charles Regatta kicks off on Friday, with racing scheduled through Sunday on the Charles River in Boston, Mass. More than 20 national team athletes will be participating in autograph signings or learn-to-row sessions throughout the weekend, as well as racing down the historic course in several events. Team USA athletes will be signing autographs at the USRowing Hospitality Tent on Saturday from 10 a.m. – Noon and again on Sunday from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. National team athletes also will lead learn-to-row ergometer sessions at the USRowing Hospitality Tent on both Saturday and Sunday from Noon – 1 p.m. In addition, U.S. team members also will be signing autographs at the 776BC tent on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Come meet members of this year's world championships' team and check out our Official Apparel Supplier's merchandise booth. There will be numerous 2022 U.S. National Team members racing at the Head of the Charles as well. The men's championship double sculls race includes the U.S. boat of Sorin Koszyk and Thomas Phifer. The duo won the B final to finish seventh overall at the 2022 World Rowing Championships, while Chris Bak, who won the men's solo event at the 2022 World Rowing Beach Sprint finals this past weekend, will be racing with Polish rower Maciej Zawojski. USRowing has two boats entered in an exhibition men's pair, which will take place in conjunction with the championship double. Pieter Quinton and Henry Hollingsworth will race in one of the boats, while Liam Corrigan and Alex Karwoski will race in the second boat. Three USRowing women's pairs will be racing an exhibition as part of the women's double sculls race. Allyson Baker will race with Kelsey Reelick, while Vicki Opitz will row with Molly Bruggeman. Jessica Thoeness and Regina Salmons will team up in the third pair. All six were members of the 2022 World Championships' squad. Three U.S. Para rowing boats will be racing in Boston. The PR3 mixed four with coxswain will include four of five athletes from the fifth-place world championships' crew. Coxswain Emilie Eldracher, Saige Harper, Andrew Wigren, and Molly Moore will row with Jaclyn Smith, who will replace Alex Flynn for the regatta. In the PR3 mixed double sculls, Todd Vogt and Pearl Outlaw, who also finished fifth at this year's world championships, will be racing at the Charles. In the Director's Challenge Eight, the all Para-rowing eight will include national teamers Eldracher, Harper, Wigren, Outlaw, Vogt, and Moore, as well as Andrew Todd, Ben Washburne, and Johanna Beyer. USRowing also has an entry in the men's championship eight and the women's championship four. Charlotte Buck, Alina Hagstrom, Kelsey Reelick, Madeleine Wanamaker, and coxswain Hannah Broadland will race the women's four. All five athletes were part of the women's eight at the 2022 World Rowing Championships, while Wanamaker also won a bronze medal in the women's pair. The men's eight will feature Henry Hollingsworth, Alexander Hedge, Michael Clougher, Liam Corrigan, Chris Carlson, Michael Knippen, Ezra Carlson, Pieter Quinton, and coxswain Jimmy Catalano. All but Hedge were part of the 2022 World Championships' team. The women's championship single field features several members of this year's national team squad including Emily Kallfelz, Emily Delleman, Grace Joyce, and Maggie Fellows, who raced together in the women's quadruple sculls and finished ninth at the 2022 World Rowing Championships. The men's championship single field includes Michael Knippen, Andrew LeRoux, and Ezra Carlson from this year's team, as well as Isaiah Harrison, who won the silver medal in the single at the 2022 World Rowing Under 23 Championships.
