USRowing Looks for Future Performance Breakthroughs

On Tuesday, April 6, 2021, USRowing's CEO, Amanda Kraus, hosted the first meeting of the newly formed High-Performance Review and Planning Council. The mandate for the council is to perform a strategic review of our high performance program, looking at all elements of our program including our talent pipeline, performance model, athlete experience and funding approach. The focus is on generating long-term, sustainable results targeting major successes at Paris 2024 and Los Angeles 2028 and a competitive and rewarding experience to get there.

The council is chaired by Patrick Manning. Manning was a five-time national team member and world and Olympic silver medalist in 1991 and 1992, respectively. Since the end of his elite rowing career, Patrick graduated from Harvard Business School and spent nearly 20 years in strategy consulting at Bain & Company in London and Boston, where he advised clients across industries including the British Olympic Association before Beijing. Patrick now serves as founder and CEO of Manning Ventures, a Los Angeles-based advisory and venture capital business. Manning and Kraus will lead the HP Council's weekly meetings with a goal of having a plan for the high-performance program outlined by the end of June 2021.

We are fortunate to have an incredibly strong and experienced team supporting the effort including Megan Gradek, Kristin Haraldsdottir, Kelly Starrett, Derek Chang, Charles "Chuck" Pieper, Chris Wilson, Stephen "Hap" Whelpley, Steve Gladstone, Fred Schoch, Taylor Ritzel, Dariush Aghai, Jim Miller, Kirsten Feldman, Patrick Lapage, and Ted Patton.
