Talent Identification & Development

USRowing collects erg scores for all athletes who want to be considered for the national team. Scores will be considered for discretionary invitations to selection camps. USRowing expects athletes to submit at least one 6k, one 2k, and one 50m run.

Erg Testing Requirements 

• All athletes submitting times must be United States citizens.
• Testing must be done on a stationary C2 ergometer.
• Results must be able to be verified by a coach and their contact information must be provided.
• All erg tests will be listed as open rate. If athletes submit scores that were rate capped, they may indicate so on the submission form but the rate cap will not be posted.

Coxswains

In order to be considered, relevant international experience as a coxswain at elite level is required. World Championships (U19, U23, Seniors, Para, Coastal) or World Cups and comparable international events are examples of elite-level competition. The other criteria that will be considered are:

1. Athlete’s specific technical skills;
2. Athlete’s team dynamic;
3. Athlete’s experience;
4. Audio;
5. 50m Sprint time;
6. Weight;

7. Meets the minimal eligibility criteria set forth on page 3.
