Personal

Meghan won the 2024 USRowing Carie Graves Female Athlete of the Year. Meghan was named USRowing’s Female Athlete of the Year in 2021 and was inducted into the NYAC Hall of Fame in 2022. She enjoys hanging out with friends and family, traveling, running, reading, and baking cookies. She’s very good at baking cookies. Meghan is training to make what would be her fourth Olympic team. Her coach also happens to be her husband. Meghan was cut/failed to make the national team three times before she actually made it. She went to a Division III school and is 13 years older than her current pair partner. Meghan was approached by the rowing coach as she was walking through the coaches offices to go talk to the basketball coach. She does not know if she has a personal hero so to speak. However, she is lucky enough to be able to say she has many people in her life that have had a major impact on how she lives. The top two that come to mind are her mom and sister. When her father passed away suddenly in 2002, her mom made an active decision to keep moving forward, to continue to live her life in spite of the tragic loss. To this day, she continues to live each day to the fullest, not allowing her age to be an excuse for not trying something new. Meghan’s sister continually works to better herself. Her work ethic is incredible; her sense of adventure is unmatched; and her default treatment of others is with kindness. Meghan said these women have shaped her life in more ways than she can recount, and she would not be the woman she is today without them. Meghan currently has a full time job and is balancing work, rowing, and life. Her favorite place to compete is Lake Bled. No, Lake Lucerne. No, Lake Aiguebelette … she can’t pick just one! She enjoys traveling anywhere with her friends and family. There are so many amazing places she would love to see. As long as she’s with friends and/or family, that’s what matters most. Meghan lists winning her first Olympic gold medal in 2012 as her most memorable Olympic moment.
