Jonas lists his hobbies as rowing, semi-elite speed walking, baking, hiking, and Strava. He is fluent in German. He began rowing when his mother put him into a summer camp. He lists Swedish speed skater Nils van der Poel as one of his personal heroes because he is an incredible athlete and an incredible person.
