Personal
Liz is a two-time CRCA Scholar-Athlete and IRA All-Academic team member. She was a U.S. Figure Skating gold medalist. Liz was a competitive figure skater and a ballet dancer before she found rowing. She was a member and vice president of the MIT Figure Skating Club for several years, and she still loves figure skating in her spare time. Liz enjoys running, reading, and learning about interesting science. She works as a full-time computational biologist at The Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard in the Getz Lab. The lab specializes in cancer genome analysis. Her research is focused on studying patterns of drug resistance in different cancer types. She completed her masters in English at MIT in 2020. She loves being able to pursue two things that she is passionate about: science and rowing. She found rowing when her parents encouraged her to join a team sport when she entered high school. She joined her local club at the time, Navesink River Rowing, and then when she started rowing at BB&N on the Charles River later in high school, she got hooked. Liz admired so many female athletes, and growing up as a figure skater, two of her personal heroes were Michelle Kwan and Sarah Hughes. Now, she says many of her personal heroes are women that she is lucky enough to be on the national Teamt with, as well as runners like Molly Seidel and Shalane Flanagan.
