Personal
Solveig is passionate about art, creating, and painting. Music also has always been part of her life. She grew up playing the piano and now teaches piano to kids. She also loves working in healthcare, coaching clinicians about recovery and self-care. She is a twin. Cooking is her love language (both for herself and the people close to her). She speaks German. Her two older brothers walked-on in college and suggested she try the sport. She lists her mother as her personal hero because shes selfless, kind, compassionate, humble, and strong, and she is able to quickly identify the needs of people around her, prioritize them, and guide them to be better people. Outside of rowing, she wants to continue to follow her other passions: music, art, teaching, learning, and creating. She also wants to travel and learn about the world, so that she can use her strengths to her fullest potential. Her favorite place to compete is across from you, with a chess board between us. She loves Italy but is intrigued and wants to visit New Zealand. In 2021, Solveig won an art competition and had her work featured on the cover of the Head of the Schuylkill program. She was the 2018 Schuylkill Navy Female Athlete of the Year with Liz Euiler. Solveig was a 2011 CRCA National Scholar Athlete. She won two first prizes at the 13th Carl Schroeder Music Competition in 2009, and first prizes for piano accompaniment and tri ensemble in 2019 at the Jugend Musizert in Germany. In 2005, she won an award in St. Petersburg, Russia, for the Best Interpretation of a Modern Piece on piano.
