Personal
Avery won the MVP and Captain Awards on her team and won Most Improved. She enjoys playing chess, baking, watching tv shows, going on long walks, and pickleball. Her dad is from South Africa. When she was in 4th grade, she was the point guard of her CYO basketball team. Avery was a pretty talkative point guard so her coach went up to her parents and recommended that she become a coxswain. Her parents did some research and found Marin Rowing. Her personal hero is her Aunt Melissa Phillips because of how much she has persevered through her life and her determination. She was recruited to play Division 1 basketball at George Washington University. Her success and athletic drive has influenced and inspired Avery to try and go as far as she can in Rowing. She loves comedies and mystery movies, especially Murder Mystery, Just Go With It, and Knives Out. She would love to be a forensic psychologist.
