2022 Youth Series – Week 2 Preview
The road to the 2022 USRowing Youth National Championships continues this weekend as five more qualification regattas will be held across the country.
Nearly 1,300 athletes and 396 crews from 50 clubs are scheduled to race at the 2022 USRowing Southeast Youth Championships. Held May 14-15 at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Fla., crews will be vying for titles in 40 events. Sarasota Crew has the most entries at the regatta with 46 boats scheduled to race. Miami Rowing and Watersports Center has 23 entries. The men's youth single sculls leads the way in entries with 22 scullers scheduled to race. The men's and women's double sculls each have 21 entries. Last year, Sarasota Crew won the overall, men's, and women's points trophies, with The Stewards Foundation taking home the efficiency trophy.
The 2022 USRowing Mid-Atlantic Youth Championships will be held May 14-15 at Lake Mercer in West Windsor, N.J. Over 1,600 athletes and 430 boats from 65 clubs have entered the regatta. The host club, Princeton National Rowing Association/Mercer, has the most boats entered, with 27 scheduled to race. South Jersey Rowing Club will be sending 21 boats. The two youth double sculls have the most event entries, with 26 crews racing in the men's youth double and 25 racing in the women's youth double. Last year, St. Joseph's Prep won the overall, men's, and efficiency trophies, with PNRA/Mercer winning the women's points trophy.
The 2022 Midwest Scholastic Rowing Championships, which will take place at Lake Dillon in Nashport, Ohio, will feature more than 500 boats from 48 clubs racing in 36 events. The women's novice four with coxswain has the most entries with 30, followed by the men's novice four with coxswain with 29. Skyline Crew from Ann Arbor, MIch., leads the way with 29 entries, while Northville High School Rowing Club has 25 boats scheduled to race.
The 2022 New York State Scholastic Rowing Championships will be held May 14-15 in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. More than 60 New York teams and 775 boats are scheduled to compete. Row America Rye and Saratoga Rowing Association lead with way with 43 entries a piece.
The 2022 Virginia Scholastic Rowing Championships will be held May 14 on the Occoquan Reservoir in Fairfax Station, Va. More than 180 crews from 49 clubs are scheduled to race across 22 events. The men's and women's eights lead the way with 16 entries each. Western Albermarle High School has the most boat entries with 11.

The 2022 USRowing Youth National Championships will be held in partnership with Visit Sarasota County and the Nathan Benderson Park Conservancy from June 9-12 at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota-Bradenton, Fla. Athletes must qualify for the event through one of 12 qualification regattas.
