2023 USRowing Summer National Championships Underway at Lake Harsha


The 2023 USRowing Summer National Championships kicked off Thursday with time trials in 18 events on Lake Harsha in Bethel, Ohio. Summer nationals features racing in 933 boats with 73 clubs going for gold as well as three all-points trophies. Nearly 1,400 athletes will make an appearance in 77 events including youth, under 16, under 17, under 23, and open age groups. In the second event of the day, we saw the day's only sub-six minute quad. Ryan McLaughlin, Noah Kanefsky, Michael Ruschmann, and Jackson Harrington representing Conshohocken Rowing Center Inc. crossed the finish line in the men's youth quadruple sculls at 5:54:821 nearly seven seconds ahead of RowAmerica Rye, who clocked a 6:01:416. Recent Under 19 National Team selected athlete Henry Davison had a commanding performance in the men's youth single sculls. Representing Oak Neck Academy, Davison won the event by almost six seconds with a time of 6:55:105 with Kyle Rucker of Central Ohio Rowing coming in at 7:01:016. Davison previously came in fourth in the youth single sculls at the 2023 USRowing Youth National Championships. Davison will make his national team debut at the 2023 World Rowing Under 19 Championships in August. On the women's side, Oklahoma City High Performance Center's Annelise Hahl won the time trial in the women's youth single sculls. Hahl finished with a 7:44:535 and was OCHPC's top finisher of the day. Hahl was closely trailed by Read Set Row LLC's Ana Holtey who clocked a 7:47:718. Hahl is a three-time national team athlete who will represent Team USA at the 2023 World Rowing Under 19 Championships in August. Previously, she represented Team USA as a beach sprint athlete and recently made the U19 national team for the first time. Hahl won bronze in the junior double sculls at the 2022 World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals and took third in the single sculls at the 2023 USRowing Youth National Championships. Due to inclement weather, racing was canceled for the remainder of the day at 3:00 p.m. The college fair is scheduled for tomorrow at 3 p.m. and is open to all rising senior athletes and their parents/guardians.
