USRowing Announces 2025 Membership Program
We are pleased to announce the 2025 program for individual membership, organizational membership, and regatta sanctioning. Starting January 1, our program will offer significantly more value at familiar prices, including flat or reduced membership rates for all members, a long-requested Learn-to-Row membership, and a free regatta sanctioning option with insurance coverage.
2025 Membership program highlights:
- Organizational dues will decrease for XX-Small and X-Small clubs on USRowing’s insurance program and remain the same for all other insured tiers and Standard members.
- Individual dues will remain the same across all tiers, including our most popular Basic and Championship memberships.
- A new $10 Learn-to-Row individual membership will offer 60 days of insurance coverage for brand-new rowers at organizations insured through USRowing’s program to participate in practice, camps, and clinics. These members can also participate in indoor regattas and easily upgrade to one of our standard membership tiers to compete at outdoor regattas.
- Insuring sanctioned regattas with USRowing will now be free for regatta organizers using RegattaCentral’s regatta management services and the services are eligible for discount. Sanctioning fees will remain flat for regattas on other platforms.
- Level 1 Coaching Certification will remain free for all individual members through December 31. Starting in January, Level 1 and most continuing coach education experiences will be free for all Championship members—our recommended option for all rowing coaches. Level 1 certification will be required for all coaches at USRowing member organizations; based on member feedback, we’re delaying the planned 2026 requirement for one Level 2 coach per organization and pausing the launch of our Club Certification program to gather additional insights across program types.
- Expanded professional liability insurance for all USRowing-certified referees and USRowing-certified coaches with Championship membership. These updates provide additional peace of mind for coaches and referees to handle risks confidently and focus on what they love to do.
Organizational and Individual membership renewals are available now. You can renew by logging in to the USRowing Membership Portal. Organizations that plan to sign up for USRowing’s insurance program should do so before January 1, 2025, to avoid a lapse in coverage. Learn-to-Row membership will be available by mid-January.
Regatta organizers: Insuring sanctioned regattas with USRowing will now be free for regatta organizers using RegattaCentral’s Regatta Management services. Regatta organizers who already use RegattaCentral can take advantage of free sanctioning now by selecting “Regattas” from their landing page on the USRowing Membership Portal and choosing the “$0 - USRowing Insured” option in the dropdown menu. Sanctioning fees will remain flat for regattas on other platforms. Events listed through RegattaCentral are also eligible for a discount on registration fees. If you’re interested in listing with RegattaCentral but new to the platform, contact sales@regattacentral.com to learn more and secure your USRowing member discount for their regatta management platform.
We can only deliver this member value through our community’s increasing focus on safeguarding best practices—efforts we will continue to invest in to strengthen American rowing for the years ahead. Through these investments, we help protect against sport risk for all member organizations, whether USRowing insures your program or not.
On the insurance front, after a 50% increase in premiums last year and a nearly 350% increase since 2018, our collective commitment to safeguarding has helped us stabilize member insurance expenses while maintaining the program’s comprehensive coverage and claims service—all at over 30% below market rates. Additionally, 2024 organizational members delivered record compliance with sanctioned regattas, driven by our ongoing investments in the platform. Combined, this has meaningfully reduced our risk profile, making it possible to eliminate the sanctioning fee costs for regattas on RegattaCentral, where we have visibility into compliance standards.
Our safeguarding evolution and the resulting insurance program breakthrough have enabled us to deliver more value through improved organizational member pricing, personalized individual membership types and benefits, and the free regatta sanctioning option.
“We're excited to deliver a 2025 membership program that reflects our commitment to our members and the future of our sport,” said Rich Cacioppo, Executive Director at USRowing. “By maintaining or reducing membership rates, introducing new membership options, and eliminating costs for sanctioned regattas, we’re building on the progress we've made together in safeguarding athletes, growing our sport sustainably, and ensuring everyone – from beginners to seasoned competitors – finds meaningful value in being part of USRowing.”
We would also like to thank our insurance broker, Willis Towers Watson, for their insurance market advocacy, support for our risk management approach, and strategic collaboration as we enter the fifth year of our partnership.
