24 Boats Win National Championships at RowFest
24 National Championships were handed out today in U17 and youth events, July 16 in Oklahoma City, O.K. RowFest features racing in 1,967 boats with 105 clubs going for gold. Nearly 2,000 athletes will make an appearance in 356 events including youth, under 17, under 23, open, and masters age groups.Â
In the women’s varsity eight, Ready Set Row’s A boat took the victory over Penn A.C. A by a boat length, finishing in a time of 6:56.53. Ready Set Row fielded two additional boats in the event that placed third and fourth.Â
Despite three Penn A.C. eights in the A Final, Row Buffalo took the win in a time of 6:06.87 over 12 seconds ahead of Penn A.C. Row Buffalo featured the winning pair from Youth Nationals, Liam Feeney and Isaiah Aljuwani, and the second place finishers, James Dodman and Max Burget, in the bow pair. Dallas United closed out the top three with a time of 6:23.92.
O.A.R.S.’ Shannon Breimer won the women’s youth single in 8:43.11, over three seconds ahead of Oklahoma City High Performance Center’s Haleen McMahan. McMahan crossed the finish line in a time of 8:46.56, followed by Gillian-Anne McLane in third place.Â
The men’s youth single was dominated by Ready Set Row’s Skye Luebbe Davidson, who finished 14.21 seconds ahead of Lake Phalen Rowing’s Noah Holst. Holst took second place over RowAmerica Rye’s Mark DiMaggio in a time of 8:03.59.Â
RowAmerica Rye won gold and bronze in the men’s youth four. The crew of Charles Berkoff, ​​Eric Von Albertini Mason, Jackson Anderson, Harrison Waters, and Juliet Rotondo crossed the finish line in just under 7:00. Ready Set Row placed second in a time of 7:04.58’
Victory for Penn A.C.’s women’s youth quad, the crew finished over 4.48 seconds ahead of Ready Set Row. Miami Rowing closed out the top three in a time of 7:36.63.Â
Racing continues on Thursday at 8 a.m. with time trials in the masters events. 500-meter night sprints under the stadium lights will take place on Friday and Saturday. Winners can expect big prizes.Â
