USRowing Receives $3,000,000 Naming Gift from Andy and Linda McLane for Chief High Performance Officer

Josy Verdonkschot’s position is named The McLane Family Chief High Performance Officer for this Olympic and Paralympic quadrennial.

March 27 - USRowing is delighted to announce a $3,000,000 donation from Andy and Linda McLane to fund and name the Chief High Performance Officer position during the LA2028 campaign. This position will be named The McLane Family Chief High Performance Officer for this Olympic and Paralympic quadrennial.

"Our family is thrilled to support USRowing’s High Performance Program with this gift," said Andy McLane, USRowing Foundation Trustee and Chair of the USRowing Foundation Nominating Committee. "We have been so impressed with the impact that Josy Verdonkschot has made since his arrival, and through this gift, we would like to show our appreciation and support for the structure and direction that he has provided for the U.S. High Performance Program and our elite U.S. athletes."

Andy and his wife, Linda, began rowing when one of their sons joined the heavyweight crew at Harvard in 2004. The McLanes are members of Cambridge Boat Club (CBC) in Cambridge, Mass., and Andy is also a member of the Leander Club in the UK. They both row singles at their home on Newfound Lake in N.H., and also in Cambridge at CBC.

Andy is a retired Senior Advisor at TA Associates, a leading global private equity firm that has raised $65 billion in capital since its founding in 1968. During a 40-year career at TA, he was Senior Managing Director, served on the firm’s Executive Committee, and headed its investing activities in the consumer, financial services, and business services industries.

In addition to his work as a Trustee of the USRowing Foundation, where he chairs the Nominating Committee, Andy has served on seven other not-for-profit Boards, including the Appalachian Mountain Club, Cambridge Boat Club, the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Paul’s School, and the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Foundation. Additionally, he has served on Investment Committees for Dartmouth College, Phillips Exeter Academy, and St. Paul’s School (Chair).

"We are deeply grateful to Andy and Linda McLane for their extraordinary generosity in endowing the Chief High Performance Officer position at USRowing,” said Amanda Kraus, Chief Executive Officer of USRowing. “This gift is a lasting investment in our mission and ensures that we can continue to support our national team at the highest level. This donation will allow us to focus on our long-term goals and build towards success at the LA 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.”
