USRowing Announces Partnership with Talkspace

February 4, 2025 – Today, USRowing announced its new partnership with Talkspace (NASDAQ: TALK), a leading online behavioral healthcare company. Talkspace will serve as one of USRowing’s mental health technology partners, providing members and the U.S. National Team free, 24/7 access to Talkspace’s self-guided therapy app, and discounted access to its virtual therapy services.

“Rowing is an incredibly demanding sport, both physically and mentally,” said Amanda Kraus, Chief Executive Officer at USRowing. “Through this partnership with Talkspace, we can now support our members and athletes year-round, helping them navigate the stresses of training, competition, and everyday life. This initiative is part of our broader commitment to enhancing wellness across all levels of rowing.”

USRowing members (aged 13+) and U.S. National Team athletes will receive one year of free access to Talkspace Go, a self-guided online mental health program offering personalized therapy courses and live virtual classes led by licensed therapists. Athletes and members will also have the option to sign up for individual, teen or couples therapy sessions with licensed therapists at a discounted rate (if paying out-of-pocket), making professional mental health support more accessible to the rowing community. Users can meet with their dedicated therapist via live video or audio calls, or through messaging back and forth asynchronously–all on Talkspace’s secure, HIPAA-compliant platform.

“Whether its exercises on better managing stress and burnout or the one-on-one guidance of a trusted professional, Talkspace is here for athletes and the rowing community, providing them an always-on support system they can count on from wherever they are,” said Natalie Cummins, Chief Business Officer of Talkspace.

According to the most recent NCAA Student-Athlete Health and Wellness Study, up to 44% of student-athletes report experiencing mental health symptoms daily. Women, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ student-athletes reported the highest rates of mental health struggles, according to the report.

This partnership provides our membership and athletes with a critical resource to help them succeed on and off the water. By integrating Talkspace into its athlete support framework, USRowing aims to prioritize mental fitness alongside physical performance.
