Qualification for the 2024 USRowing Youth National Championships Gets Underway This Weekend
The road to the 2024 USRowing Youth National Championships begins this weekend as over 1,500 boats are scheduled to race at four qualification regattas, vying for spots in the United States' premier youth rowing event.Â
More than 1,700 rowers are scheduled to race at the 2024 USRowing Southwest Youth Championships on Lake Natoma in Gold River, Calif. The regatta will be held May 3-5 and will feature more than 630 crews from 33 clubs racing for titles in over 50 events. Los Gatos leads the way in terms of team entries with 59 boats, while the women's and men's youth double sculls has the most event entries with 22Â crews scheduled to race.
The 2024 USRowing Central Youth Championships will take place May 3-5 on the Oklahoma River in Oklahoma City's Boathouse District. This year's regatta will feature more than 700 athletes competing in 315Â boats for titles in nearly 50 events. Dallas United Crew has the most entries with 36Â boats scheduled to compete in Oklahoma. The women's youth double sculls has the most entries with 21 boats in the field.Â
The 2024 Philadelphia Scholastic Rowing Association City Championships also will take place on May 4-5 on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, Pa. Crews will be competing for medals in 48 events, with qualification spots available in select events for both the USRowing Youth National Championships and the Scholastic Rowing Association of America (SRAA) Regatta. More than 550 boats from 82 programs will be racing at the City Championships.
The 2024 Virginia Scholastic Rowing Championships will be held May 4 on the Occoquan Reservoir in Fairfax Station, Va. Nearly 106 crews from 34 clubs are scheduled to race across 18 events. The men's freshman eight leads the way with 12 entries, followed by the women's freshman eight with 11 entries. Yorktown High School has the most boat entries with 8.
The 2024Â USRowing Youth National Championships will be held in partnership with Visit Sarasota County and the Nathan Benderson Park Conservancy from June 6-9 at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota-Bradenton, Fla. Athletes must qualify for the event through one of 12 qualification regattas, which are held over the next four weekends.
The nation's premier rowing venue, Nathan Benderson Park has hosted numerous national and international rowing events including the 2024 Olympic Trials and the 2023 USRowing Youth National Championships.Â
The 2024 Youth Series and 2024 USRowing Youth National Championships will be streamed live on Overnght for free.
