USRowing is pleased to announce the coaches that will lead the selection camps for the 2024 World Rowing Under 23 Championships scheduled for August 18-25 in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada.
The men's and women's sweep camps and the women's sculling camp will be held at Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H., while the men's sculling camp will be held at the Conshohocken Rowing Center in Conshohocken, Pa.
Sarah Trowbridge, women's head coach at the University of Oklahoma, will serve as the head coach for the women's squad, with John Graves, Dartmouth's women's head coach, serving as her assistant. Trowbridge, a 2012 Olympian, coached the women's eight to a gold medal at the 2023 World Rowing Under 23 Championships. Graves, an eight-time national team member, led the men's eight to a silver medal at the 2023 World Rowing Under 23 Championships. Trowbridge and Graves will be in charge of the women's eight, four with coxswain, and quadruple sculls that will race in St. Catharines. A third coach will be announced at a later date.
Wyatt Allen, men's head coach at Dartmouth College, will serve as the U23 men's sweep head coach, with Dartmouth lightweight men's head coach Trevor Michelson assisting. A two-time Olympian, Allen has served as the men's head coach at Dartmouth since 2014. Michelson has served as lightweight head coach since 2022. Both Allen and Michelson have coached previous U23 teams, with Michelson coaching the four with coxswain to a bronze medal in 2023. Allen and Michelson will coach the men's eight and four with coxswain in St. Catharines.
Conshohocken Rowing Center Executive Director Craig Hoffman will serve as the men's sculling head coach, with Conshohocken's Aaron Preetam assisting. A multiple-time national team member representing the Dominican Republic, Preetam has coached national team rowers at the U19, U23, and senior levels, working with the U23 lightweight women's double sculls in 2023.
Selection camps will take place July 10-31 at their respective locations. Crews selected to compete at the 2024 World Rowing Under 23 Championships will train and then depart for St. Catharines, Ontario on August 14.
