USRowing Announces 2026 Youth Sportsmanship Award Nominations

USRowing is proud to announce the continuation of its Youth Sportsmanship Award for 2026, recognizing outstanding youth athletes who exemplify integrity, respect, and leadership both on and off the water.

The award celebrates the true spirit of rowing by honoring athletes who lead by example—uplifting teammates, demonstrating humility in competition, and showing respect for competitors and the broader rowing community. Nominations are now being accepted here. USRowing encourages coaches, teammates, and community members to recognize athletes who lead with character and inspire others every day.

Award Criteria

Nominees for the 2026 Youth Sportsmanship Award are evaluated based on the following core values:

Teamwork – Fostering a positive team environment and supporting peers
Integrity – Demonstrating honesty and fairness in all aspects of competition
Leadership – Inspiring others through commitment, attitude, and example
Humility – Showing grace in both victory and defeat

Eligibility & Nominations

Eligible nominees must be active youth athletes competing at a 2026 USRowing Youth Regional Championship. Coaches and teammates are encouraged to submit nominations highlighting specific examples of sportsmanship and impact.

Nomination deadlines by region:

Southwest Youth Championships: April 27th
Central Youth Championships: April 27th
Mid-Atlantic Youth Championships: May 4th
Southeast Youth Championships: May 4th
Northeast Youth Championships: May 11th
Northwest Youth Championships: May 11th

Each nomination must include details about the athlete’s character, contributions, and examples of sportsmanship. To submit a nomination, individuals must complete this form.

Selection Process & Recognition

A USRowing Sportsmanship Committee will review submissions and select finalists in each region, with final winners chosen in collaboration with a regional council.

Award recipients will be announced at their respective Youth Regional Championships.
