USRowing Announces Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 Roster
With the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Team Trials - Rowing and camp selections now in the books, USRowing is pleased to announce the full roster of athletes, coaches and staff who will represent the United States at the 2020 Paralympic Games.
Four crews will compete in Tokyo including the PR1 women's single sculls, PR1 men's single sculls, PR2 mixed double sculls, and PR3 mixed four with coxswain. The first three crews qualified at the 2020 U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Team Trials - Rowing in April, while the latter was chosen through a selection camp process.
Of those competing, Hallie Smith, Russell Gernaat, Karen Petrik, Charley Nordin, John Tanguay and Allie Reilly are first-time Paralympians. Blake Haxton, Laura Goodkind and Dani Hansen will be competing in their second Paralympic Games.
Hansen was part of the U.S. crew that won a silver medal in the PR3 mixed four with coxswain in Rio. The U.S. has won six consecutive silver medals in the event at the world level, including at the 2019 World Rowing Championships in Linz, Austria. This year's PR3 mixed four with coxswain features the same five athletes who won silver in Austria.
Haxton placed fourth in the arms and shoulders single sculls in Rio, while Goodkind placed 10th in the trunk and arms mixed double sculls. Haxton also will be competing in para canoe in Tokyo.
