USRowing Board Highlight: Meghan O'Leary
Meghan O'Leary is a 2016 and 2020 Olympian, athlete activist and entrepreneur. She is a two-time World Championship medalist, five-time World Cup medalist and seven-time National Team member with the United States Rowing Team. For eight years she has represented the team as the Athlete Director on the USRowing Board of Directors, and was elected as the Fan's Choice Athlete of the Year in 2017.
O'Leary was a two-sport Division I athlete in volleyball and softball at the University of Virginia where she obtained her Bachelor's and Master's degrees. She was also a recipient of the prestigious Jefferson Scholarship. Prior to her rowing career, she worked for ESPN for five years until she decided to pursue her Olympic rowing career full-time.
Since leaving ESPN and outside of rowing, O'Leary co-founded Turazo, a software platform that helps companies recruit and hire more inclusively. She is a professional speaker and advocate for women in sports and equality, serving as an ambassador for the Women's Sports Foundation. For eight years she has represented the team as the Athlete Director on the USRowing Board of Directors and was elected as the Fan's Choice Athlete of the Year in 2017.
O'Leary currently resides in the San Francisco Bay Area with her fiance, Julia and their dog, Lotus.
