Josh enjoys playing the violin and viola, singing, cycling, bowling, backpacking and going on walks with others. He used to be in choir as a tenor and sang at Disney World in Florida. He is originally from Blacksburg, Virginia, - Go Hokies! He received the Outstanding Achievement Award in Chinese Studies from the Chinese Language Teachers Association of Oregon, which is awarded to students who have accomplished significant impact on the community through studying Chinese language and culture. He is an AP Scholar with Distinction, the highest AP award given by the College Board. A friend introduced Josh to the sport, and he joined his freshman year. He lists Philip Keck as a personal hero because he helped Josh appreciate knowledge and creativity. Mr. Keck's easygoing nature on academics helped introduce him to a form of stability from learning, using tools available with new technologies and venturing out to do new things. His teachings enabled Josh to discover rowing, boy scouts, and many other hobbies that he has today. Josh really likes to encourage everyone to try new things and seize all available opportunities that may be presented to them. Be vulnerable and seek discomfort.
