Personal
Cristina began rowing in college after a bad concussion ended her soccer and basketball career at Holy Cross. Cristina is a converted Eagles fan since moving to Philadelphia. She loves going to Philadelphia sports games and events. Outside of that, she enjoys exploring New York City, especially their museums and cultural events, with her brother, Jack Alessio. Cristina considers her teammates at Holy Cross to be her personal heroes because of the foundation of perseverance, grit, and support they created that meant the world to her. She loves competing in Monaco and traveling to Amsterdam. Her mother, Barbara Pretto, immigrated from the Philippines. Despite her mother not knowing how to swim, her children are involved in water sports. Her brother swam at Harvard and graduated in 2014. Cristina named her single Barbie Dreams in honor of her mother and the success she could have had if given the opportunities. Her favorite Olympic moment is Hidilyn Diazs first Filipino gold medal at the 2020 Olympics. She enjoys watching Netflix dating shows, reading Virginia Woolf, and listening to Nicki Minaj.
