USRowing Training Centers

USRowing Training Centers (USTCs) are the locations where the majority of the athletes of the Olympic and Paralympic Training pool train. The centers are run by USRowing coaches and offer extensive athlete support in an environment where training and individual development are the number one priority.

Support services include:

  • Biomechanics
  • Physiology
  • Strength & conditioning
  • Athlete health & wellness

While each center has its own focus, they all provide an inviting and supportive environment for both male and female athletes, accommodating both sculling and rowing disciplines. Athletes must be invited to train at these locations.

USTC - Sarasota

The Sarasota Training Center is located at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Florida. The center is led by Casey Galvanek, who is also the USRowing Head Coach for the Olympic Men's disciplines.

The lake offers a 10-lane, 2000m course and a 1500m course. The two courses are separated by a state-of-the-art wave reducing attenuator. The center currently utilizes dedicated on-site space for indoor training, strength & conditioning and health & wellness services. With an anticipated spring 2027 completion of a spectacular multi functional boathouse, thanks to the Nathan Benderson Foundation, the center will become one of the premier training environments in the world.

Sarasota's reputation as a world-class rowing destination is  solidified by its history of hosting major national and international events. This legacy ensures that athletes benefit not only from top-tier facilities but also from being part of a vibrant rowing community.

Athletes interested in joining the USTC - Sarasota should contact Casey Galvanek.

USTC - Princeton

The Princeton Training Center is located at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, New Jersey. The center is led by Jesse Foglia, who is also the USRowing Head Coach for the Olympic Women’s disciplines.

Athletes train out of the Caspersen Boathouse. The lake offers training on a 2700m lake with a 7-lane 2000m course. The center currently utilizes space at Princeton Sports and Family Medicine for indoor training, strength & conditioning, and health & wellness services. With an anticipated spring 2026 completion of the expansion, the Caspersen Boathouse will become the full-time home of all athlete services.

Princeton has been the breeding place for many generations of successful Olympians, including the unprecedented dynasty of the Women’s Eight. The local rowing community continues to provide strong support and a welcoming home for the current and coming national team athletes.

Athletes looking to join the USTC - Princeton should contact Jesse Foglia.

USTC - Boston

The Boston Training Center is based at the Harry Parker Boathouse in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The center is led by Ellen Minzner, who also serves as the USRowing Head Coach for the Paralympic disciplines.

The Harry Parker Boathouse offers facilities for indoor training, strength & conditioning, and health & wellness services. The Boston Rowing Federation and many of the clubs on the river provide additional support to individual athletes in cooperation with the Training Center.

Boston has a strong and very much alive rowing tradition. It has been the home training base for many successful Olympic and Paralympic rowers, and current athletes enjoy strong support both on and off the water from their legacy.
