Medal of Honor and Athlete of the Year Award Presentation

USRowing is presenting the Medal of Honor and Athlete of the Year Awards at 5 p.m .on Saturday, Oct. 19 at the Head of the Charles (HOCR) in Boston, Mass.

Longtime HOCR director and pillar of the rowing community Fred Schoch will be presented with the 2023 USRowing Medal of Honor. This award is bestowed upon a member of the rowing community in the U.S. who has rendered conspicuous service to, or accomplished extraordinary feats in, rowing. 

Men's and Women's Athlete of the Year Awards will be presented to the winners in the U19, U23, Beach Sprints, Para, and Senior categories. These awards are voted on by the athletes on each respective team and are awarded to the athletes who displayed the most compelling combination of character, leadership, and performance, while driving forward a positive team culture in the past year.

These awards will be presented in conjunction with the Head of the Charles Awards on the HOCR Award Stage at Attager Row, located near the Finish Area Landing Site (FALS).
