Board of Directors Highlight - Sara Hendershot
Sara Hendershot is a lifelong athlete and competitor. She grew up in Boston, Mass., where she developed a love of sports from an early age. During her high school years, she moved to Simsbury, Conn., where she was introduced to the sport of rowing. Immediately drawn to the nature of the sport, she realized that this highly technical craft rewarded relentless hard work and committed herself to the goal of competing in college.
This led Hendershot to be recruited to row at Princeton University where she became her team's Captain, a two-time All American, and graduated with a B.A. in Psychology. Upon graduation, she earned her way onto the U.S. Women's National Team and became a two-time world champion and 2012 Olympian in the women's pair, where she finished fourth. Through this journey, she faced several bouts of injury, which led her to study human movement and physiology and develop a passion for coaching and high performance.
After retiring from the sport of rowing, Hendershot has taken the lessons she learned from professional sport and applied them to performing in business and life. She has developed a career in brand marketing for health and fitness companies, where she is currently building a sports nutrition brand to it's fourth consecutive year of growth. She is also a performance consultant to the Radcliffe rowing team (Harvard Women's), an avid mental health advocate, and she continues to compete in athletic events like the NYC and Chicago marathon. She now lives in Cambridge, Mass., with her husband, Mike, son, Maverick, and French Bulldog, Bron.
