USRowing Youth Series 2021: Week 3
USRowing's Youth Series continues this weekend with the 2021 USRowing Northeast Youth Championships in Saratoga, N.Y.
The Northeast Youth Championships will feature over 1,000 athletes and 294 boats from 32 clubs. Crews will race for medals across 33 events at Fish Creek in Saratoga. Community Rowing, Inc., has the most entries with 32, while Greenwich Crew has 28 entries.
This past weekend, two USRowing Youth Series events took place in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast. At Lake Mercer in West Windsor, N.J., St. Joseph's Prep took home the overall points trophy, the men's point trophy and the efficiency trophy from the 2021 USRowing Mid-Atlantic Youth Championships. Princeton National Rowing Association/Mercer won the women's point trophy.
At the USRowing Southeast Youth Championships In Oak Ridge, Tenn., Sarasota Crew claimed the overall, men's and women's points trophies. The Stewards Foundation won the efficiency trophy.
"With three successful Youth Series events now completed, we look forward to a great event this coming weekend at the USRowing Northeast Youth Championships," said Sarah McAuliffe USRowing Events Associate and Northeast Youth Championships Regatta Director. "We're excited to see our Northeast crews in action in Saratoga, which is hosting this event for the first time."
Unlike previous years, this year's regional youth championships will not serve as automatic qualifiers for the 2021 USRowing Youth National Regatta due to COVID. But, they do serve as an opportunity for crews to race for regional titles, lay down some fast times and start their final preparations for the upcoming national regatta in Sarasota.
The 2021 USRowing Youth National Regatta will be held in partnership with Visit Sarasota County and the Suncoast Aquatic Nature Center Associates (SANCA) on June 10-13 at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota-Bradenton, Fla.
The USRowing Youth Series concludes next weekend with the USRowing Northwest Youth Championships.
As always, USRowing's number one priority is to run a safe regatta. USRowing has a robust COVID risk mitigation plan in place for all of its Youth Series Regattas in order to try to provide as safe of a competition environment as possible for our athletes, coaches, referees, volunteers, staff, supporters, and other attendees.
