U.S. Men’s Four Finalists for Men’s Crew of the Year
World Rowing announced their finalists for the 2024 World Rowing Awards yesterday and the U.S. men’s four was named to the short list for the Men’s Crew of the Year Award. The four is competing against the gold medal winners from the men’s eight from Great Britain and the men’s quadruple sculls from the Netherlands. The 2024 World Rowing Awards will be held during a Gala Dinner on Saturday November 9, 2024 in Seville, Spain.
The crew composed of Liam Corrigan, Michael Grady, Justin Best, and Nick Mead won gold in Paris. This was the first win in the men’s four since 1960. The crew beat out the 2023 World Champions from New Zealand in a tight battle down the course. Team USA pushed away from New Zealand after the New Zealand crew closed the gap with 500 meters to go. The U.S. crossed the finish line .85 seconds ahead to secure gold.

Three-time Olympic medalist Caryn Davies won the World Rowing’s 2023 Thomas Keller Medal. Davies was the first American to win the award, which debuted in 1990 and is considered the highest honor in the sport of rowing.
