USRowing Announces Events, Experiences, and Awards for the 2024 Head Of The Charles Regatta
Today USRowing revealed the slate of awards, events, and experiences set for next month’s Head Of The Charles Regatta – the world's largest 3-day rowing competition attracting 400,000 spectators, and 11,000 competitors.
The theme for the 2024 Head of the Charles Regatta USRowing experience is “Rowing Reflections: Honoring History, Embracing Tomorrow.” A three-day journey through the last five decades of rowing in the US, celebrating its storied past and promising future. USRowing will delve into the rich heritage of the sport, showcasing historical photography and legendary stories from the past 50 years. The past will bridge to the present and future with socials, and signings. With sights set on the future, we’ll also be highlighting beach sprints as we look forward to LA28.
Here's an overview of programming, and access to the USRowing hospitality is free and open to all attendees, except for a few events that require registration:
Friday, October 18
The USRowing experiences kicks off with "Celebrating, Remembering, & Honoring: Rowing Through Cancer" at 12:00 p.m.
At 1:30 p.m., there will be a Gutsy taste test of some of their new flavors.
Saturday, October 19
Saturday will begin with the "United We Row" breakfast event at 10:00 a.m., followed by a session of national team athlete autographs. Ellen Minzner will be hosting a talk at 12:00 p.m. on the Path to Para for athletes interested in learning about the Para national team. At 1 p.m., all U19 and U23 athletes are welcome to meet up. Guests will also have the chance to connect with the regional representatives on the Board of Directors, and the USRowing’s Emerging Leaders Council will also convene in the afternoon starting at 2 p.m. The day will close at the Head of the Charles awards stage on Attager Row from 5:00PM-6:00PM as we honor our Athletes of the Year, and confer the 2023 USRowing Medal of Honor to Fred Schoch, Executive Director of Head of the Charles. A celebration of both Head of the Charles and USRowing award winners will follow at FALS bar.
On Saturday afternoon, the National Rowing Foundation will be hosting the National Rowing Hall of Fame induction ceremony at 3:00PM. This is an NRF-hosted event.
Sunday, October 20
Sunday will feature a final round of national team athlete autographs beginning at 9 a.m. At 10 a.m., the presentation of the Board Awards will take place.
Throughout the event, the USRowing hospitality tent will also be host to several national team alumni meet-ups.
USRowing and the USRowing Foundation are excited to welcome rowing fanatics, coaches, alumni, and athletes to experience the legacy, witness the present, and embrace the future of rowing.
