USRowing Announces Hybrid Race Model for 2024 Indoor National Championships

USRowing is excited to introduce a hybrid model for the 2024 USRowing Indoor National Championships. Designed to offer greater access and flexibility for a wide range of indoor enthusiasts, competitors can participate either at an official host location or remotely from around the world as they vie for a national championship.

For participants who want to experience the thrill and camaraderie of an in-person championship, USRowing is collaborating with The Pittsburgh Indoor Sprints (date to be announced) in Pittsburgh, Pa., and the Erg Sprints (February 3) in Alexandria, Va., to offer a standardized event list and publish all results to the USRowing Indoor National Championships Leaderboard. Each host will include youth, masters, inclusive, and Para events, as well as learn-to-row sessions to welcome newcomers of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.

For participants more than 150 miles away from a host location, USRowing is offering a remote option. On February 3, competitors can set up a satellite location at their local boathouse, CrossFit, or from the comfort of their own home. USRowing, in partnership with TimeTeam, will provide all the details for competitors to participate virtually.

Once racing has concluded on February 3, USRowing will announce national champions based on the combined results from all competitions. Medals will be awarded to the top three athletes nationally in each individual event listed in the official national championship event list. Participants at official host locations also will have the chance to earn a local medal by placing in the top three at those competitions.
