USRowing Seeks Volunteers for the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games

With the Olympic and Paralympic Games returning to the United States for the first time in more than three decades, USRowing is inviting members of the rowing community to express their interest in rowing-specific volunteering opportunities at the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

LA28 is expected to recruit approximately 75,000 volunteers to help deliver the Games, including hundreds of sport-specific volunteers who will play an integral role in classic rowing and beach sprint competitions. USRowing is working alongside LA28 and World Rowing to identify experienced members of the rowing community who may be interested in serving in any of the following positions:

  • National Technical Official (NTO): An NTO is loosely defined as someone who applies the rules or has a role in judging a competition. They will support and work closely with the International Technical Officials (ITOs). They are appointed by LA28, in consultation with USRowing, and in accordance with World Rowing rules.
  • Specialist: A Specialist has specific existing skills or qualifications needed to complete the role – for example, sport or medical training. The specialist volunteers work within the Sport Competition team.
  • Generalist: A generalist does not need any special skills or qualifications and will receive full training. They might be given roles in areas such as event services, uniform distribution, and Village operations.

Interested parties can learn more about the process, roles, and criteria by clicking here.

Register your interest to volunteer in the sport of rowing at LA28 by July 13, 2026, here.

Completing the USRowing interest form is not an application to volunteer for LA28, nor does it guarantee selection. All volunteers must complete the official LA28 volunteer application process, which opens on July 14, 2026.
