USRowing Selects FOYS as New Platform Partner to Modernize Member Experience and Regatta Operations
Multi-year partnership brings a single, rowing-built platform to athletes, coaches, clubs, and the broader rowing community
FOYS to serve as USRowing's central membership platform, bringing member administration, regatta management, coach and athlete tools, and engagement together in one connected system.
Phased rollout begins in 2026, with 1:1 registration support starting in late Fall, and opportunities for members to beta test the platform, provide feedback immediately.
August 18, 2026 - USRowing is pleased to announce a multi-year partnership with FOYS (Focus On Your Sport), a technology platform built for rowing federations and clubs. The partnership – starting in 2027 and running through mid-2032 – is one of USRowing's largest strategic investments in its membership community, and is a deliberate step toward building a stronger, more connected relationship between USRowing and every type of member it serves.
Beginning January 1, 2027, individual USRowing members will have a single, integrated destination for both USRowing membership and club management. Through a seamless web and mobile experience, members will be able to see and manage their rowing history, club participation, regatta registration, practice scheduling, team communications, and learning and development resources — all in the same platform their club and regattas use, eliminating the need to navigate multiple platforms or systems.
Clubs will have access to FOYS's premium club management functionality at no cost as part of their USRowing's membership, gaining an integrated experience with far more functionality than before. This includes membership registration and renewals, club communications, coach and referee compliance tracking, self-service account management, digital member cards, and a mobile app for members.
“Partnering with FOYS will significantly increase our membership value at all levels of the sport.", said Tom Rooks, Chief Sport and Membership Officer of USRowing. “FOYS is a proven platform, built for our sport, and that matters. Bringing member services, regatta operations, and the member app into one system will let us serve our athletes, coaches, clubs, regattas, and volunteers more effectively while we focus on the member experience, and growing the sport.”
The platform is built for rowing rather than adapted from a generic sports platform; it also includes rowing-specific functions such as boat and fleet management, regatta workflows, referee and jury assignment, race results and rankings, and optional regatta planning and registration — all configured to USRowing's member needs. The partnership is designed to reduce administrative burden on clubs, regatta organizers, and volunteers while giving members easier access to the tools and information they use throughout the season.
“FOYS is proud to partner with USRowing as the national governing body modernizes the way it serves its community,” said Jochem Verberne, Co-Founder of FOYS and Olympic rowing silver medalist. “Our platform was built by rowers, for rowing, and we understand the workflows that matter to federations, clubs, coaches, and athletes. We look forward to working alongside USRowing to deliver a simpler, more connected experience for members across the country.”
The partnership also includes collaborative educational and promotional initiatives, member onboarding and change-management support, and continued engagement with USRowing clubs and members through webinars, training, and digital content. A phased rollout will begin in 2026, with member clubs invited to adopt the platform as it becomes available.
Member Involvement
USRowing will be gathering feedback from the community in order to design a platform and transition support system with member needs in mind. Members can be involved in several ways:
- Beta testing: members can request to become a beta tester of the platform in order to learn, become familiar with, and give feedback on the platform before going live. Beta testers will have access to a staging environment and to test different workflows to ensure they fit the functional and operational needs of the community. Frequently Asked Questions - All Members
What is FOYS?
The FOYS platform is USRowing’s new membership system. It is an all-in-one sport management platform used by 25 sport federations worldwide. The platform offers two functions that users can access both on the web and the mobile app based on their role:
- MyRowing: Built for individuals that allows them to sign up for practices, regattas, camps, networking communities, courses and manage their profile or interests.
- RowingOps: Built for club leaders, coaches, regatta directors, chief referees, and staff who will oversee team, regatta, or jury management. This environment offers tools for communication, roster management, event settings, web shop, fleet, and more.
Why is USRowing making this change?
For years, USRowing has not been able to invest in technology at the level our members need. Clubs have had to cobble together spreadsheets, chat threads, and web forms to manage membership and operations. USRowing has lacked access to consistent historic data across member organizations. Regatta directors have relied on a patchwork of tools and manual processes to manage entries, compliance, and race operations. Through FOYS, the new membership platform will address the pain points specific to each of these groups while giving everyone — USRowing, clubs, regattas, and individual members — access to the same shared, consistently updated platform.
USRowing’s vision for moving to FOYS is to streamline and modernize the member portal and regatta management process, while adding club management tools that meet the current and growing demands placed on organizational members. The new member platform offers members the ability to use one system for all their needs at a lower cost than industry competitors, with real-time updates on all information and access.
How did USRowing come to the decision for a change, and specifically select FOYS?
USRowing’s existing agreements with our member and regatta management platforms are set to expire at the end of 2026, and as an act of due diligence, we conducted a formal review of the event and membership platform market.
This review included a Request for Proposal (RFP). This process lasted several months and involved USRowing leadership, several experienced consultants, and staff dedicated to specific member interests, including membership management, referees, regattas, camps and club management, safeguarding, compliance, and platform payments.
The RFP process included a series of discovery rounds and in-depth interviews:
- Proposal review, demonstrations, and first round interviews.
- Three Finalists selected.
- USRowing requirements, business values, member values, and priorities to include in the platform were compared and contrasted against each finalist's existing and future capabilities.
- Finalist meeting series to assess the fit against the following areas:
- Strategic plan alignment
- Member/user experience scenario workshopping
- Viability and financial risks
- Data architecture, transfer, and syncing
How will my experience change?
- All members: Take advantage of direct communication to your participants by using the USRowing App’s push notification tools.
- Athletes, Coaches, Referees: Utilize the MyRowing environment and app to manage your profile, register for upcoming events, network across relevant communities, continue learning, and sign up for or indicate event availability.
- Club Leaders: Utilize the RowingOps environment to take advantage of club management tools, allowing you to simplify the way you schedule practice windows, communicate with your team, run registration for your members, and sign up for events.
- Regatta Leaders: Use of the new membership platform is optional. If a regatta chooses to use the new platform, then they will use RowingOps – a tool that offers regatta leaders more self-service freedom, allowing them to create and manage events, event eligibility, compliance, and the referee jury.
When can I begin using the platform?
- Club leaders will receive early access to the RowingOps environment in November or December 2026 to renew their organizational membership and begin using the platform’s club management tools.
- Individual Members will receive access to an improved platform experience on January 1, 2027.
- Regatta leaders will have the option to manage their regattas in RowingOps, and should they choose to and begin using it for their regattas in March 2027.
Will I lose my membership history, results, or club data?
No, USRowing’s data migration is the top priority in this transition, and members will have all historical data dating back to 2019 readily accessible in their MyRowing or RowingOps environments. This includes data prior to 2019 that’s currently housed outside the member portal, such as referee records and legacy coaching certification records.
How does this connect to other applications or tools?
The USRowing platform will be fully integrated with several third-party tools, such as SafeSport, The Launch, and NCSI, to provide a seamless experience and a connected data ecosystem. These integrations will ensure that all certifications, training, and other requirements are reflected on a member’s profile.
How does this impact membership dues and fees?
The transition to the new membership platform will not impact membership dues or fees. Such fees are typically impacted by rising insurance costs, inflation, and ongoing improvements to member services. While transitioning to FOYS is a direct improvement to member services, USRowing is not passing transition costs through to members – instead, USRowing is using a portion of its strategic cash reserve (built up through recent operating surpluses over recent years) to absorb transition expenses.
How is USRowing including and supporting Members in this transition?
USRowing is inviting members of the community to work alongside staff in several ways:
- Beta testing: members can request to become a beta tester to learn, become familiar with, and provide feedback on the platform before it goes live. Beta testers will have access to a staging environment and will test different workflows to ensure they meet the community's functional and operational needs.

Frequently Asked Questions - Clubs
What features and tools are included for club with premium club management functionality?
At no cost, clubs will have an integrated experience with far more functionality than USRowing has previously offered its organizational members, covering member management, coaches, compliance, equipment, and communications.
To be specific, the features they can access will include:
- Enriched Dashboard: Member breakdown by age and gender, retention, upcoming birthdays and celebrations.
- Enhanced Roster: Bulk registration and membership pricing plans, member communication history, club-specific subscriptions (e.g., magazine), member document storage, financial invoices and payment records, marketing interests and communication preferences.
- External Organizations: Sponsor and donor management, community partner management, invoice external organizations for contributions.
- Finance: Manage club-specific web shop orders and payment tracking.
- News & Communications: Club news, marketing communications, push notifications through the app, networking groups, and member messaging.
- Teams & Group Calendar: Practice scheduling, event and activity registration, volunteer registration, attendance management, event cancellations and notifications, individual dietary restrictions, bulk assignments, and club events (e.g., end-of-year BBQ).
- Bookings & Equipment: Boat reservations, fleet and equipment management, boat availability and out-of-service status, and damage reporting.
- Weather: Prepare for oncoming weather, water temperature, wind, and other safety condition indicators for practices and regattas.
- Settings: Media management, photo galleries, club gear store, and seasonal club registration.
Will our team’s historical records transfer automatically?
Yes, Regatta Central records dating back to 2019 will be transferred and tested to ensure a seamless transition. As a best business practice and per USRowing’s retention policy, data beyond this timeline will be forgotten and destroyed. Race results and other achievements are data points that are maintained indefinitely and do not fall into this record data category.
Will I need to re-register myself or my team?
No, USRowing is migrating all data, and members will experience a seamless transition when they first log in to their MyRowing or RowingOps accounts. Members will be able to log in with a single username, rather than a separate username and member ID.
How will I register for regattas now?
Teams can register for regattas directly through their RowingOps account or directly on the third-party platform (e.g., RegattaCentral, Streamline) if the regatta does not use the platform. If the regatta does use the new USRowing member platform, you will be able to build out teams using club management tools that are used daily for training, then drag and drop those teams into the regatta registration form and easily indicate which athletes will compete in which seats per event.
Are any of my role-based requirements changing?
No, the requirements themselves for athletes, coaches, referees, supporters, and clubs are not changing. The platform will be more reliable, user-friendly, and transparent of requirements and upcoming expirations.
Frequently Asked Questions - Regattas
Will this affect regattas already registered with another platform?
No, the platform will offer a master calendar that highlights upcoming regattas listed on both USRowing’s RowingOps and external platforms such as RegattaCentral. This will allow regatta leaders to use the product solutions they’re familiar with while also having access to FOYS' solutions.
Will I need to rebuild my regatta from scratch in the new system?
USRowing will offer a webinar in October and an assisted regatta registration service starting in March that invites regatta leaders to meet with USRowing and FOYS staff who will demo the platform, create their regatta, and answer any questions you have about using the platform.
Will results, seeding, and timing integrations still work the way they do today?
Yes, USRowing is integrating with timing solutions to continue enabling regatta leaders with seamless on-site operations, timing, seeding, and results.
What if I want to sanction a regatta but am not ready to use the new platform?
Members continue to have the flexibility to use the platforms they know and are familiar with. USRowing is not mandating that members use the platform for regatta management and will offer APIs for third-party solutions that enable real-time, secure updates. Registered regattas that use third-party platforms for event registration will be linked to USRowing’s event calendar, allowing members to easily see and engage with all upcoming events.
