Personal

Thomas enjoys fishing, cycling, hiking, and is into general outdoors things. He was born with hydrocephalus and after a few early-childhood surgeries, his life was unaffected until complications resurfaced on and off throughout 2020 and 2021, taking him out of training and competition prior to the U23 selection process. Another surgery in summer 2021 put him back in a position to train and compete. He found rowing when his parents strongly encouraged him to participate in a sport upon starting high school, and rowing was appealing to him because it required no experience. He fell in love with it after a few weeks. He lists John Graves as his personal hero. He admires John's pursuit of excellence in the sport, sculling specifically, and his successes give Thomas a lot of hope, being on the shorter side as far as heavyweight male rowers go.
