Kathryn majors in government. Won the U17 event at the 2019 Spartan World Championship. She enjoys watching debates, cross-training, baking, and going to church. She played tackle football up until 8th grade. She could eat sweet potatoes at every meal. She ran her first half-marathon at the age of 12. She loves her Cuban heritage. After having tried out almost every sport, she was looking for a full-body sport that would challenge her physically and mentally. A friend of hers in middle school encouraged me to try out for the rowing team. She found it to be exactly what she was looking for! Her father is her hero. He has taught her so many life lessons and has led by example. Her father came here on a boat from Cuba, escaping the communist regime and its persecution of his beliefs. He came here with nothing and he got right to work. He has always put her brother and her first, has spent endless hours training us, motivating us, and exemplifying perseverance and commitment. She hopes to compete in a variety of physical endurance competitions such as CrossFit, Ironman, triathlons, etc. Having lived all her life without them, she would love to go wherever there are mountains. There is nothing better than going on a long hike and arriving at a spectacular view at the summit! Her favorite music is Morgan Wallen. Her favorite books are The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck.
