Ten Trophies Awarded on Day Three of Masters Nationals
After the third day of racing at the 2023 USRowing Masters National Championships, ten trophies were awarded to ten clubs along with medals in 71 events. Today's racing included events that were originally scheduled for Thursday but were canceled due to inclement weather.
Lincoln Park Boat Club took the Community Rowing Inc. Trophy for their win in the women's open A four with coxswain. Rishika Gupta, Lydia Hawthorne, Emily Caffee, Margaret Benhart, Rebekah Armstrong finished with a time of 3:40:640, earning Lincoln Park their second trophy of the competition.
Mike McKay and Marcio Troccoli from Heroes Movement composite took home the trophy for the fastest men's open C double with a time of 3:25:597. Heroes Movement is a nonprofit that strengthens veterans' physical and mental health through exercise.
The women of Chinook Performance Racing took home the trophy in the women's open E eight this afternoon. Chinook finished with a time of 3:34:571 over second place Saugatuck and third place Minneapolis.
Immediately following Chinook's victory, The Nik Kurmakov Trophy was awarded to Helmut Longius of Ruder-Club Bergedorf for his win in the men's open G single sculls. Longius finished at 3:49:779, just under a second ahead of Scott Page of Riverfront Recapture who finished at 3:50:057.
The Greenwich Crew "Pair" Trophy was given to Jonathan Adam Holland and Peter Sharis of Ex Nemo Rowing Club for their win in the men's open C pair. Sharis and Holland finished at 3:25:704, earning themselves the notable pear shaped trophy.
Kristi Bushman of Whitemarsh Boat Club took home the women's lightweight AA-A single sculls trophy. Bushman crossed at 4:05:167 and was one of two medaling boats today for Whitemarsh.
For their victory in the women's club E four with coxswain, Alexandria Community Rowing was awarded the USRowing Trophy. Rowed by Jobelle Cruz, Pamela Jones, Ruth Saunders, Mary Cato, and Christina Swartz the boat finished at 3:57:420. The team also earned a silver medal earlier in the day.
The Benderson Development Camp Trophy was awarded to the women of St. Louis Rowing Club for their win in the women's club A eight. St. Louis finished at 3:24:263 and went on to win another gold in the mixed AA-A four with coxswain.
Nashville Rowing took the trophy for the fastest mixed C quadruple sculls with a time of 3:31:032. Nashville's fastest of the day, this boat was rowed by Dietmar Kuttelwascher, Steve Grant, Madeline Cawley, Michele Baederand. The club also won gold in the open gender open double sculls.
Shannon Kaplan and Dawn Eringis took home the trophy for their gold in the women's open D double sculls. Kaplan and Eringis finished at 3:53:604 rowing for Penn A.C. Association and brought in one of three medals for the club.
