RowFest Racing Kicks Off Tomorrow


The 2024 USRowing RowFest National Championships will be held July 13-21 on the North Canadian River in Oklahoma City, O.K. RowFest brings the entire rowing community together over one week of racing, including crowning national champions in different race distances for the first time in USRowing history. The regatta will feature nearly 3,000 athletes from 107 clubs competing in 1,981 boats across 356 events.

RowFest’s opening ceremony is tonight, Friday, July 12 and the event will include a performance from the 77th Army Band and a screening of “The Boys in the Boat”. 

The women's youth single sculls is the most popular event with 28 crews expected to compete, followed by the women's youth double sculls with 23 entries. Sculling boats lead the way on the men's side as well with 19 men's open singles entered. 

Texas Rowing Center is bringing in the most boats with 132, while Minneapolis Rowing Club has entered 98 boats. Riverfront Recapture has 95 entries.

Racing begins on Saturday at 8 a.m. with time trials in the under 23 and open events. Finals in the under 23 events will be held on Sunday. 500 meter sprint races will take place on Sunday evening starting at 8:15 p.m. Youth racing begins on Monday followed by Masters racing on Thursday. 

Racing begins on Saturday, July 13 and includes an opportunity for the local community to learn to row. Riversport will be hosting a “float and watch” movie night on Saturday evening where anyone can rent a float for the water or watch the movie from the lawn. 500 meter sprints under the lights begin on Sunday, July 14 with fireworks as crews cross the finish line, a DJ, and food trucks. Monday, July 15 will feature youth racing, a functional movement class hosted by Olympic gold medalist, Lindsay Shoop, and closes with the Brilliance in the Boathouse social. The College Fair will take place on Tuesday, July 16th from 11:00am to 3:00pm in the Equinox Tent at RiverSport OKC, Oklahoma. The college fair will only be open to rising seniors, parents/guardians of rising seniors (panel sessions only), and club coaches. The excitement continues for spectators on Saturday, July 20, with additional 500 meter sprints and oarboard racing in the cove open to the community.
